Business Manager / Traffic Manager

Rebel River Creative is looking for a Business Manager / Traffic Manager to support the operational and financial health of the agency. This role plays a key part in managing workflow, balancing team capacity, and ensuring projects move forward on time, on budget, and with clear communication across the team.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across numbers, people, and processes. You value structure and accountability, collaborate well with others, and understand how strong systems support great creative work.
About the Role
This position combines business management with agency traffic and workflow oversight. You will manage the financial side of the business while also serving as a central point of coordination for scheduling, resourcing, and project flow across the agency.
You will help ensure the right work is assigned to the right people, timelines are realistic and maintained, and workloads are balanced to support both efficiency and team sustainability.
What You’ll Do
Business Management and Finance
- Manage the financial operations of the agency
- Maintain QuickBooks daily with accuracy and consistency
- Run and interpret financial reports including profit and loss, balance sheets, forecasting, and cash flow
- Ensure proper accountability for invoicing, expenses, collections, and vendor payments
- Manage third-party vendors and independent contractor relationships
- Support leadership with financial insights and operational recommendations
- Manage client data and systems
Traffic and Workflow Management
- Own agency-wide workflow from kickoff to completion
- Build and maintain project schedules, timelines, and milestones
- Balance team capacity and prevent overbooking or burnout
- Adjust schedules proactively when priorities or timelines shift
- Serve as the central communication hub between account, creative, and leadership teams
- Ensure work moves efficiently through the agency without bottlenecks
- Protect agency profitability by tracking scope, hours, and utilization
Project and Process Leadership
- Become an expert in Workamajig for project management, client management, resourcing, and invoicing
- Partner with Account Managers and Creative leadership to staff projects appropriately
- Conduct and support project post-mortems to improve systems and outcomes
- Identify workflow gaps and continuously improve internal processes
- Help maintain clarity, accountability, and momentum across the team
What You Bring/Required
- Minimum of three years of experience in a marketing, advertising, or creative agency environment, including business management, operations, traffic management, or agency operations
- Minimum of three years of bookkeeping or financial management experience
- Strong understanding of business and financial principles
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is required
- Experience with project management and workflow systems; Workamajig experience is strongly preferred
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage day-to-day tasks while maintaining a big-picture view
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, calm, and effective communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments and work without ego
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and improve systems and processes
